Nova – Code Editor for Mac

Nova – Code Editor for Mac Free Download

Last Updated on April 21, 2022 by Macsoftbox

Nova is a beautiful, fast, flexible, native Mac code editor. It works on Apple Silicon M1 as well.

Nova is a native Mac code editor developed for building and debugging modern web, desktop, mobile, and cloud applications.

For the curious, Nova has built-in support for CoffeeScript, CSS, Diff, ERB, Haml, HTML, INI, JavaScript, JSON, JSX, Less, Lua, Markdown, Perl, PHP, Python, Ruby, Sass, SCSS, Smarty, SQL, TSX, TypeScript, XML, and YAML.

It’s also very expandable, with a robust API and a built-in extension browser.

You can easily create, build and run tasks for your projects. We didn’t have them in Coda, but do we have them now. They’re custom scripts that toolbar buttons or keyboard shortcuts can trigger.

Imagine building content, and with the single click of a button watching as Nova fires up your local server, grabs the appropriate URL, and opens a browser for you, instantly. Just think of the time you’ll save.

Nova supports different Build, Run, and Clean tasks. It can open a report when run. And the scripts can be written in a variety of languages.

Nova Pricing

You can download Nova from its website and try it free for 30 days. After the trial period, you can purchase your copy of Nova for $99 (if you previously owned Coda 1 or 2, you can upgrade for only $79). This purchase includes a year of free upgrades, and you’ll always own your copy.

Panic promises that it won’t nag you for continued updates if you don’t want them after your initial year expires. However, additional years of updates will be available for $49 per year if you do.

While Nova’s pricing is steep compared to some other popular editors, We think it’s fair for such a well-designed app. If you care about quality Mac software, you probably understand the need for independent developers to charge for it.

Nova 9 for Mac Free Download

You can download Nova’s latest version from for educational purposes. We always recommend buying a valid license from the developer.
